DK FINANCIAL Services

For the business of family.

One of our friends put it well, “You guys are kind of like outsourced C-suite for the business of my family.” Essentially, we show up where money and family meet up.

We’ll stay clear of the technical or financial pieces — after all, you likely have those things covered already. We help on the lesser talked about issues surrounding money and family dynamics – what some are calling “legacy services.”

Our goal is to get your family operating like a great team. Here’s what our team can do for you:

1. Alignment and Vision

What would it look like if all your family had clear purpose on why God has you on earth? What if your family had clarity on the big “why questions”? What if everyone knew the core values you all shared in common? Imagine the effect of having a well-crafted vision statement that your daughter and son-in-law actually got excited about. Articulated purpose and values provide unity, clarity, and even excitement. Honestly, it’s not too difficult to discover. We need purpose and intentionality.

2. CoHesion and Trust

Imagine what it would look like if your family all got along well. What would it look like if they genuinely loved each other and looked forward to connecting? What would it look like if you had deep, loving relationships? What if trust was easily given and the family culture was one of safety, honesty, and openness? Imagine having a culture which was both supportive and challenging! Family trust and communication are critical. They can be yours. There is hope. We build trust, and understanding.

3. structure for transition

Money can be a blessing and a curse. Chances are you didn’t grow up with wealth. 80% of the wealthy aren’t raised with it. The trappings, language, and complexities of financial wealth as it relates to family are huge — and likely new. How do you transition the business? And is family transitioning even a thing? Family is hard, and no family’s perfect, but yet you can get better. We lead the change in the family.

What we actually do

Functionally, what we do is: facilitate meetings, assess family culture, build giving systems, and design family operating systems. You can find each in more detail below.

1. Meeting Facilitation

Sometimes having a third-party for certain family meetings can be helpful. There is value in having someone who has navigated these waters before and has helped others do what you are trying to do. A third party facilitator frees you up to be you instead of having to facilitate.

2. Assessing Family Culture

Are we okay? What do we need to work on? What are our strengths and weaknesses? The starting point of family leadership is a healthy and honest assessment of where we are right now. Perhaps we’re not where we’d like to be, but honest, unvarnished feedback of where we really are will help us move closer.

3. Building Family Giving Systems

Imagine being world class with your giving. Imagine your family giving strategy bringing deep joy and resulting in lasting impact. Instead of feeling like a task or like “dad’s thing” or something that “mom and dad do,” what if it was an usthing? What if you could impact the world together; wisely stewarding resources, and yet still feeling like an adventure. Imagine the processes and structures clearly communicated in writing, agreed upon by all, and yet still allowing for spontaneity and freedom to move quickly when needed.

4. Designing Family Operating Systems

What do you do when family starts to feel like a business no one is employed in? When building a house, first you sit down with an architect. They help design and build out your plan and structure. The same applies to wealth transfer and family operating systems. A well-designed blueprint accomplishes the goals more efficiently and more effectively.
